Being a member of PARTA/Campus Bus Service has a special and unique meaning to each of us passing through the door over the years. PARTA/Campus Bus Service provides a place to gain experience valuable to a college student preparing for their drive through life; and even more fundamentally is a place where lasting friendships and memories are born.

The Robert W. Blakemore, Jr. Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program that has been established in the memory of Robert Blakemore, Jr.

Robert was a dedicated Campus Bus Service alumnus whose time at Campus Bus Service proved to be instrumental to his future success. Mr. Robert W. Blakemore endowed this scholarship in memory of his son, Bob. Mr. Blakemore stated, "My son, along with many others, benefited greatly from the work experience at the bus service. It is to help others succeed after graduation that a scholarship program was established."

Each semester the Blakemore Scholarship committee awards $1,000 to a candidate who best reflects the determination and work ethic of Robert Blakemore, Jr. A candidate must employ the following guidelines:
1. Must be a part-time employee of PARTA/Campus Bus Service
2. Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.3
3. Should earn part of his/her way through school
4. Must be committed to earning a degree from Kent State University

The unfortunate loss of Robert Blakemore, Jr. is a sad part of our history, but the scholarship in his honor offers positive futures for many students to come.
