Blakemore Scholarship Fund

The Robert W. Blakemore, Jr.
Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Robert W. Blakemore, Jr. Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program established by Mr. Robert Blakemore in memory of his son, Bob. Bob was a dedicated KSU Campus Bus Service alumnus whose time at CBS proved to be instrumental to his future success. Mr. Blakemore stated, “My son, along with many others, benefited greatly from the work experience at the bus service.  It is to help others succeed after graduation that a scholarship program was established.”

Beginning in spring 1995, CBS awarded a $1,000 scholarship each semester to a student employee of CBS who best reflected the determination and work ethic of Robert Blakemore, Jr.  Since fall 2004, PARTA has been honored to continue the tradition of awarding a $1,000 scholarship in memory of Mr. Blakemore to a KSU student employee of PARTA in accordance with the following guidelines:

1)            Must be a KSU student employee of PARTA

2)            Must have a minimum of 2.3 a GPA

3)            The recipient should earn part of his/her way through school

4)            Must be committed to receiving a degree from Kent State University

PARTA notifies current KSU student employees when it is accepting applications for the Blakemore Scholarship, usually in November each year for the spring semester award, and in July each year for the fall semester award.  The $1,000 award is applied directly toward the student’s KSU tuition account.
