A better way to pay
PARTA will introduce new fare cards this spring to work with updated equipment in our buses. These upgrades will offer easier ways to purchase and store fares through the EZFare app.
The app is free and can be downloaded now from the Apple app store or the Google Play store.
If you are currently using a PARTA trip card
PARTA riders who are currently using trip cards can continue to use those cards until we begin to transition to the new fare media. Once the transition begins, you will have a limited time to use rides on PARTA's old trip cards and 31-day pass cards after the new smartcards are launched. Don't worry, we'll give you plenty of notice before this happens.
What are the benefits of the new cards?

Increased security
The new cards can be linked to a personally identifiable account. This feature provides provides added protections for the cardholder. If a rider with a registered account loses their card, that card can be deactivated, so the rider does not lose the trips or the value associated with that card.
Improved rider experience
With Account Based Ticketing enabled through a Smartcard, there is no longer a need to purchase a ticket before you take a trip. Simply tap (scan) your card and fare for the trip is automatically deducted from your account. Fare capping ensures that a rider always receives the best possible fare over the course of a day or a month.
Flexibility to suit your needs
Store pre-purchased tickets on your card anonymously or link your card to an account. The choice is yours. You don't have to link your card to an account if you don't want to; however, if you lose your card, you will also lose all the trips stored on that card. Linking your card to an account allows you to purchase tickets and store them for later use or enable Account Based Ticketing.
