Welcome back Kent State University Students

Welcome Back KSU Students!

Whether you’re new to the KSU Campus or a returning student, we’d like to provide you with some important updates regarding PARTA’s Campus Bus Service.  Riding PARTA will be slightly different fall semester due to COVID-19. However, you can be confident that PARTA has taken recommended steps to ensure your safety on our buses.  Read about PARTA’s COVID-19 protocols here.  The information provided below, combined with information on our Campus Bus Service page will help you get around with greater ease on PARTA’s campus bus service.

Fall semester campus bus service resumes Thursday, August 26.  All transportation on campus and off campus on PARTA’s fixed routes is FREE for Kent State students (except for the Akron and Cleveland express routes), just show your student ID when boarding off campus routes.

For a quick overview of issues specific to bus service for KSU students returning to campus fall semester 2020, check out the following videos.  More general travel training videos can be found here.

What’s new

Facial coverings

  • Required to ride all PARTA buses

  • No one will be permitted to board the bus without a facial covering - No Mask, No Service

Capacity Limits

  • Social distancing requirements mean campus buses will no longer be filled to capacity

  • To promote social distancing, capacity on buses will be limited to 17-20 passengers per bus

  • A ‘FULL’ notice on the electronic destination sign on the front of a bus means a bus may pass by without stopping to pick up passengers

  • Skipped stops will be serviced by a second bus on the same route trailing the ‘FULL’ bus

  • Campus loop buses will run more frequently during peak hours to accommodate capacity limits

Service changes

  • Route 53 Reverse Loop bus has been suspended until further notice

  • Route 59 Stadium Night Loop bus has been suspended until further notice

  • Due to the closure of certain parking lots, service on the Route 58 Summit East bus has been reduced

  • To see PARTA’s complete campus route schedule click here

  • The Akron Express route resumes operation on August 24, however, the Cleveland Express route remains on hold indefinitely

How to locate your bus in real time

The Spot PARTA app offers real-time GPS transit information.  You can access SPOT from your phone, tablet, or computer.

  • Download the free Spot PARTA app from the Google Play store or Apple app store

  • Tap the menu icon in the app then tap ‘Bus Times’ to see when a bus will arrive

  • Alternately, text your Stop ID number (found on the bus stop sign) to 224-300-spot (7768) to get the next arrival time of any bus
